Come Over October: Wine History HitList

The annual international wine campaign, Come Over October, is off and running. This year there is a fabulous Wine History HitList. I especially appreciate the inclusion of The Parisian "Salon" because we've been hosting my version called "Miss Kitty's Saloon" once a month since January 2024. This month I'd like to invite all potential salonists to join us on Wednesday, October 28, 6-8pm at the Tasting Room, 1520 E Chestnut Ct. in Lompoc. We are an intimate group of writers, philosophers and dreamers dedicated to civil intellectual discourse. No homework! Let me know your interest and I'll include you on my email list for this month only.

The Parisian “Salon” 1700-1930
The Parisian “salon” was popularized during the Enlightenment era when patrons of the arts or society hosts would open their doors to friends and interesting guests to debate philosophy, culture and creativity. Good wine and food flowed along with the conversation, inspiring many budget-minded artists to join in as much for the appreciation of the table as the talk (and share among their group whose parties were worth dropping in on). The trend continued through the 1920s, made famous globally by ex-pat writer Getrude Stein’s gatherings with writers like Sinclair Lewis, Ernest Hemingway and Ezra Pound.
