Riverbench Vineyard, Santa Maria Valley AVA

Riverbench Vineyard was established in 1973, when the first Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes were planted on the bank of the Sisquoc River, known as the Santa Maria Bench. Riverbench Vineyard currently consists of 115 acres of Pinot Noir and 15 acres of Chardonnay. In 2015, Riverbench added the third great grape varietal famous in Champagne, Pinot Meunier, to their vineyard. The Riverbench Vineyard Pinot Meunier contributes to our family of Goat Bubbles with a single varietal expression since 2021.

In 2009, Riverbench was certified as sustainable by the SIP (Sustainability in Practice) program.  While not certified as organic or biodynamic, they follow many of the same practices.  Moreover, Riverbench goes above and beyond the certification requirements in terms of their planting of cover crops, protection of wildlife, and use of minimal intervention in the winemaking facility.
