SBC Named 2021 Wine Region of the Year

Santa Barbara County was named the 2021 Wine Star Award winner for Wine Region of the Year by Wine Enthusiast. Matt Kettmann's article goes into detail about some of the wonders of our county.

Flying Goat is proud to represent "a stunning diversity of microclimates" and "Pinot Noir from the Sta. Rita Hills" AVA. Regarding warehouse tasting experiences, Lompoc Wine Ghetto was a pioneer by offering the first urban wine tasting experience. We opened our tasting room in the Ghetto as one of the first in 2008. Most of the vineyards we source from are Sustainable in Practice. In fact, Ampelos Vineyard is the first in the country to be biodynamic, organic and sustainable in practice.

Flying Goat is also co-owned by a woman, with me (Kate) as the female partner and communication specialist. I'm proud to say that my husband (Norm) is in touch with his feminine side so we produce some of the tastiest Pinot Noirs in the state! I consistently ask myself, why would I want to become another female winemaker in the county since Norm is one of the OGs of the region?

We invite you to come to our enchanting wine country and taste our award winning Flying Goat Cellars Pinot Noirs and Goat Bubbles méthode champenoise sparkling wines. We also offer a second label, YNOT? wine, with more affordable Pinot Noirs and a Chablis style Chardonnay from Santa Barbara County fruit. We promise, you will not be disappointed!
